Orlando P. “Lon” Simonetti, Ph.D., MSCMR, FISMRM, is the John W. Wolfe Professor in Cardiovascular Research, Professor of Radiology and Internal Medicine, and Vice Chair of Research in Radiology at The Ohio State University (Ohio State). After earning his B.S. (’83) and M.S. (’85) degrees at Ohio State, and his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering at Case Western Reserve University (’92), he went to work for Siemens where he served as Director of Cardiovascular MR Research and Development. Lon joined the Ohio State faculty in 2005 where his research has continued to focus on developing cardiovascular magnetic resonance technology. Lon is a Past-President of the SCMR (2014-2015), served as the Society’s first Chief Executive Officer (2016-2019), and was the recipient of the SCMR Gold Medal Award in 2019. He currently serves on the SCMR Registry Committee.
