Amit R. Patel, MD is a cardiologist who specializes in multimodality cardiac imaging with expertise in cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. He is the Julian Ruffin Beckwith Professor of Medicine at University of Virginia where he serves as the Director of Cardiac Imaging. Dr. Patel’s research has focused on the evaluation of ischemic, infiltrative, and inflammatory heart diseases. He has over 200 publications and serves on multiple international committees dedicated to enhancing the quality of advanced cardiac imaging and has helped develop the board exam for both cardiac magnetic resonance and cardiac computed tomography. He is currently serving as the Vice Treasurer/ Secretary for SCMR and is an associate editor for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. He is a past member of the Board of Trustees for the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and a past Associate Editor for the Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.
