Mike Seed is the Division Head of Cardiology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and an Associate Professor of Paediatrics, Medical Imaging and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto. His research has involved collaborations with imaging scientists, fetal physiologists, reproductive and neuroscientists and child development specialists to focus on the relationship between cardiovascular physiology and fetal and neonatal development, particularly in the setting of congenital heart disease and fetal growth restriction. These clinical studies have been enhanced by investigations of large animal models of human fetal disease. The goal of this research is to develop strategies to mitigate against the adverse effects of abnormal perinatal cardiovascular physiology on the developing fetus and newborn.
