Dr. Cristóbal Ramos Gómez is a radiologist with extensive training in cardiovascular and thoracic imaging, specializing in advanced cardiac CT and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR). He obtained his Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree from the University of Chile in 1998 with highest distinction, and later completed his Radiology Residency Program at the same institution in 2007, also graduating with maximum honors. His early academic formation included a Bachelor of Medicine degree (Licenciatura en Medicina), awarded in 1998.
Following his formal postgraduate training, Dr. Ramos pursued advanced subspecialty development in internationally recognized centers. He completed a Visiting Observership in Cardiothoracic Imaging at Washington University in St. Louis – School of Medicine (USA), under the mentorship of Dr. Fernando Gutierrez, where he strengthened his skills in image acquisition, post-processing, and structured reporting of high-complexity CT and MRI examinations. He further expanded his training at the Instituto do Coração (InCor), University of São Paulo Medical School in Brazil, under the mentorship of Dr. Carlos Rochitte, focusing on pre-procedural planning, protocol optimization, and post-processing of cardiac CT and CMR studies.
Additionally, Dr. Ramos completed a one-year advanced fellowship in thoracic and cardiovascular radiology at the Clinical Hospital of the University of Chile, working under Dr. Juan Carlos Díaz Patiño. During this period, he gained in-depth experience in high-resolution CT of the chest, coronary CT angiography, and comprehensive cardiac MRI, actively participating in multidisciplinary clinical discussions and complex case management.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ramos has cultivated strong academic involvement, contributing as an invited speaker and postgraduate instructor in cardiac imaging. His teaching activities include CMR and CCTA interpretation, congenital heart disease imaging, protocol standardization, and structured reporting. He is recognized for integrating advanced imaging techniques with clinical cardiology, particularly in the assessment of adult congenital heart disease, ventricular function, myocardial tissue characterization, coronary anomalies, and multimodal evaluation of complex cardiovascular pathology.
