Dr Emma Obiri-Darko is an Internal Medicine Trainee (IMT) in the East of England with developing interests in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging. She graduated from University College London (UCL) in 2021 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and completed an intercalated Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Neuroscience in 2018.
Alongside her clinical training, Dr Obiri-Darko is involved in cardiovascular research, quality improvement, and medical education. She has contributed to projects relating to cardiac imaging, heart failure diagnostics, and service evaluation within acute and general internal medicine. Her current research portfolio includes work on biomarker-led heart failure pathways, echocardiographic assessment of diastolic dysfunction, and exploratory work on improving diagnostic recognition of certain high-risk myocardial infarction patterns outside traditional frameworks. She has presented research at national conferences, including the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) Annual Conference.
Dr Obiri-Darko is also engaged in medical education, delivering regular clinical teaching for medical students and junior trainees. She has completed an endovascular skills course and is continuing to build her experience in multimodality imaging, including echocardiography and introductory cardiac MRI.
She intends to pursue formal Cardiology training in the UK, with long-term interests spanning coronary intervention, advanced cardiac imaging, and the integration of imaging modalities into procedural planning and patient pathway optimisation.
