Garrett McFadden is a 2nd year medical student at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Medicine who has a strong interest in the field of Cardiology. He currently conducts research through UTHSC and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital Heart Institute under the mentorship of Jason Johnson, MD, MHS, as well as other members of the Le Bonheur CMR team. Before medical school, he earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Biology at the University of Notre Dame, where he initially became interested in the medical field through Notre Dame’s Compassionate Care in Medicine program. While Garrett is new to the field, he is eager to learn about CMR and has quickly developed an interest in the intersection between CMR and Deep Learning Reconstruction. He began this project thanks to the Medical Student Research Fellowship program at UTHSC, and was grateful to receive an award for Outstanding Presenter at the conclusion of this fellowship. Garrett plans to pursue postgraduate training in Pediatrics and hopes to complete a Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship following the conclusion of residency.
