Dr. Jane Wei, MD is an internal medicine resident at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital. She completed her undergraduate education at Cornell University and medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. She has had diverse research interests throughout her training, however most recently during her residency years has developed an interest in the intersection between women's health, cardiology, and imaging, with a focus on changes in cardiovascular structure and function in mid-life women following a history of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Currently, she is in a NIH-funded R38 research year under the mentorship of Dr. Malamo Countouris, MD, MS and Dr. Flordeliza Villanueva, MD, using CMR as a modality to study mid-life changes in cardiovascular structure and function associated with both preeclampsia history and current hypertension. She has a particular interest in characterizing cardiac strain, atrial parameters, and diastology in this population. Following completion of her R38 year and internal medicine residency, she desires to pursue a career in cardiology as a physician-scientist.
