Dr. Okon is a seasoned Advanced Cardiac Imaging Cardiologist and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at The University of Texas Medical Branch, where she is the Medical Director of Cardiac MRI and co-Director of Cardiac CT. She is board-certified in five specialties including Cardiovascular Disease, Cardiovascular MRI, Cardiovascular CT, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology, reflecting her commitment to excellence in cardiovascular imaging. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology where she serves on the cardiovascular imaging section, and she serves on the international outreach and abstract review committees in the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. She earned her medical degree from University of Benin, Nigeria, and a Master of Science in International Health Policy & Management from Brandeis University in Massachusetts. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Yale University-Bridgeport Hospital, Cardiovascular disease fellowship at Cooper University Hospital, New Jersey and Advanced Cardiac Imaging fellowship at St. Francis Hospital-The Heart Center in Roslyn, New York. Dr. Okon effectively harnesses teams to develop cardiac imaging programs and has spearheaded acquisitions, implementations and expansions of AI-driven cardiac MRI and CT technologies in a variety of health systems, including Phillips Radiology Operating Command Center to improve efficiency and patient access to Cardiac MRI, and Heartflow ONE platform for comprehensive coronary artery disease evaluation and management. Dr. Okon is passionate about leveraging advanced cardiac imaging technologies to enhance patient outcomes, and her leadership and expertise in cardiac imaging continue to make significant impacts in the field.
