Andrew E. Arai, MD

Dr. Arai is a past president of the SCMR and has been involved in development, validation, and translation of CMR into clinical practice since 1994. After 28 years at the NIH, Dr. Arai is now a Professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Medicine, and Adjunct Professor in the Dapartment of Radiology, University of Utah School of Medicine, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Arai has trained about 70 cardiologists and radiologists in advanced cardiovascular imaging. Many of those trainees are active in the field and several have become leaders in field. He is the program director for the advanced cardiovascular imaging fellowship program at the University of Utah. He was principal or co-principal investigator on $79 million of NIH funding and co-PI on an active R01.
