Ashley “Ash” Mitchell, MD, graduated Internal Medicine residency from the University of Connecticut, where she is now currently serving as Chief Medical Resident for the 2025–2026 academic year . She earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, where she was awarded multiple Dean’s Scholarships in recognition of her academic excellence. Prior to medical school, she completed a Master of Science at Boston University and dual bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and English at the College of Charleston.
Dr. Mitchell has established a strong academic and research portfolio focused on advanced heart failure, cardiac hemodynamics, and device-based monitoring. Her work has been presented at leading national conferences—including the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and CHEST —and published in journals such as JACC, Circulation, and Chest. She has earned multiple awards, including the Philip T. Goldenberg, MD Award for Leadership, a Research Award at the Annual UConn Research Day, and Intern of the Year.
