Clinical Research Fellow
University of Leicester
Leicester, England, United Kingdom
Dr Cowley is a cardiology registrar and completed her medical degree at the University of Leicester and then moved to Leeds, to undertake her foundation and core medical training, before finally returning to the Midlands where she started as a fellow, working as a registrar in Nottingham, and secured a training number in the region. She knew early on that she wanted to participate in research during her training and subsequently applied to work with Gerry McCann, Emer Brady and the cardiovascular imaging research team, and went back to Leicester! Her postgraduate research is focussed on subclinical heart failure in type 2 diabetes, and the hope is to be able to risk stratify for heart failure in people with type 2 diabetes following simple clinical assessment. Following her PhD she aspires to continue to sub-specialise in imaging and heart failure clinically.
