I am a current Pediatric Cardiology resident at the Hospital Pediátrico de Coimbra (Portugal), where I am developing my training and professional identity as a clinician dedicated to the cardiovascular health of children.
My medical path began at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Coimbra, where I completed my Masters in Medicine between 2014 and 2020.
In January 2022, I began my residency in Pediatric Cardiology. Throughout the first years of my pediatric training, I rotated through several subspecialties, including Pediatric Oncology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care. These experiences provided me with a broad and solid clinical base, as well as a deep understanding of the complexity and multidisciplinarity inherent to pediatric practice.
As I progressed into the specialized phase of my residency, I started gaining experience in the evaluation of acute cardiac patients in emergency settings, outpatient follow-up in multiple specialized consultations (Arrhythmology, Cardiovascular Risk, General Cardiology, Congenital Heart Disease, Cardio-Oncology, Sports Cardiology, Myocardiopathies, and Cardio-Hepatology), and the monitoring and management of patients in cardiac intensive care. I have also been involved in the performance and interpretation of hemodynamic studies, further broadening my clinical and technical skills.
My commitment to global health led me to participate into several medical missions in Guinea-Bissau. I am also actively involved in scientific research, with publications in journals such as European Heart Journal, Progress in Pediatric Cardiology, Cardiology in the Young and Journal of Pediatric Genetics, covering several topics that also included advanced cardiac imaging.
