Dr. David Chen leads the Artificial Intelligence and Informatics in Healthcare Lab in the Heart Vascular and Thoracic Institute and is the Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Innovation Research Center. His research focus is to develop and apply new AI methodology to answer clinical questions in healthcare, thereby improving individual patient health. He is particularly interested in techniques which minimize the need for large volumes of labeled data, learning mechanistic representations of the heart through biomedical imaging, and better understanding how caretakers use data to make clinical decisions. He hopes his research will bring big data analytics to healthcare and bring next generation automated clinical support tools to patient and physician.
