Qualified as a cardiologist at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in 1999. Worked as a Consultant Cardiologist in Chorley Hospital and Falkirk Royal in the UK.
Became a CMR fellow in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the John Radcliffe Hospital at the University of Oxford from 2005 to 2009. Established the first Cardiac MRI program at Charlotte Maxeke and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospitals in Johannesburg South Africa.
Vast experience in clinic cardiology, and imaging with both echocardiography and CMR.
Furthermore, Prof Nethononda is highly experienced in conducting clinical trials and has participated in some ground breaking trials including DECLARE–TIMI 58; PEGASUS-TIMI54; INVICTUS Trials; VICTORIA STUDY; Emperor Study; Dalheart Study; Clarify; DETERMINE study and others.
