Dr Mayooran Shanmuganathan is a Consultant Cardiologist at Oxford University Hospitals and at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, in UK, with specialist expertise in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). His clinical and research interests centre on advanced cardiac imaging, particularly the application of cardiac MRI, heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, heart transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support.
Dr Mayooran Shanmuganathan graduated in Medicine from Imperial College London in 2008 and completed an intercalated BSc with first-class honours, receiving multiple academic prizes. He became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2011 and was awarded a PhD (DPhil) by the University of Oxford in 2023 for research focused on clinical application of acute cardiac MRI.
He has published extensively in cardiovascular MRI imaging, teaches regularly, and is actively involved in clinical trials.
