Consultant Cardiologist
Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust
London, England, United Kingdom
Dr Dan Knight is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Associate Professor at the Institute of Cardiovascular Science, University College London (UCL). He is Director of the National Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) Service at the Royal Free Hospital, one of seven specialist centres in the United Kingdom for the management of adult PH. He also helped set up and establish the department of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) at the Royal Free Hospital. His research is supported by a British Heart Foundation (BHF) Fellowship and uses innovative CMR-based techniques applied to PH and systemic sclerosis (scleroderma). These include CMR-guided right heart catheterization (CMR-RHC), CMR-cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CMR-CPET), low-field MRI and advanced CMR tissue characterization. CMR-guided right heart catheterization is now routinely performed as a weekly list in the Royal Free PH and CMR services, with a live case performed by the Royal Free team at CMR 2024. Several centres have attended CMR-RHC workshops held at the Royal Free Hospital and have since set up their own CMR-RHC programmes.
