Dr. Jorge Andion Torreão, MD, PhD, is a cardiologist and cardiovascular imaging specialist with extensive expertise in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and computed tomography (CT). He currently serves as Vice-President of CT of the Department of Cardiovascular Imaging of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (DIC-SBC, 2024–2025) and as President of the Cardiovascular Resonance and Tomography Study Group of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC, 2024–2025). Internationally, he is an active Member of the Education Committee of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) for the 2025–2026 term and participates in the Program Planning Committee for the 2026 SCMR Annual Scientific Meeting in Rio de Janeiro.
Dr. Torreão obtained his medical degree from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) in 2004 and completed his training in Internal Medicine at São Rafael Hospital (2005–2006) and Cardiology at Santa Casa da Bahia (2007–2008), where he also earned the Specialist Title in Cardiology granted by the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC) in 2009. He pursued advanced training in Cardiovascular Imaging (MRI and CT) at the Heart Institute (InCor), University of São Paulo (USP) from 2009 to 2010, followed by certification in Echocardiography (2012) and the Specialist Title in Echocardiography by DIC-SBC (2019). He earned his Doctorate in Medical Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP) in 2015.
He has also served as a Visiting Scholar at Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou (Paris, France) from 2022 to 2023 and serve at the Heart Institute (InCor-USP) since 2024, strengthening international collaboration in advanced cardiovascular imaging.
Dr. Torreão is the Coordinator of the Cardiovascular MRI and CT Fellowship Program and Supervisor of Cardiovascular MRI and CT at Santa Casa da Bahia, in addition to his clinical and research appointments at multiple leading institutions, including Delfin Clinic, MEDDI Group, DASA Group (Hospital da Bahia and Alta Ibirapuera, São Paulo), Rede D’Or São Luiz Group (São Rafael and Cardiopulmonary Hospitals), Hospital Português, Hospital São Roque, and Heart Institute (InCor-USP).
